Lesser Grison

The lesser grison has a low, elongated body, short legs and a flattened head. Its grizzled pale back contrasts with darker legs and underparts. A light band crosses the forehead and continues towards the shoulders, although both this band and the overall contrast vary between individuals.

An active ground hunter, it follows small vertebrates through open country and may enter their shelters. Rodents are important prey, alongside birds and reptiles. Grisons can be active by day or night and may appear alone or in small groups, often moving quickly rather than remaining in view.

In our region. A documented regional mammal, but an unpredictable and often brief encounter. No particular month or routine route can be presented as reliable.
